Information about Sid Eells work:

"Painting people is my specialty!  A painting should look like a painting.  To me, a painting is a work of art, therefore, I try to overemphasize lights and darks and sometimes colors to bring the canvas to life.  Photos, lets face it, are flat.  My challenge is to treat the subject of the photo as if it were a live model.  Painting from a photo gives me the chance to study the subject at my convenience.  Somehow the character of the individual face or expression will come through without making it look like a caricature.  The painting should reflect more of the character of the person than the photo.  With photos I can also produce a finished product faster.

Caveat Emptor - The technique from one painting to another may differ greatly.  I am an artist, not a color copy machine.

To produce your painting I need the photo to reproduce and maybe 2-3 others of the same subject.  Hair color and eye color is important for black & white colorizing.  Photos do not have to be large or high-resolution, I can work with almost anything!  Paintings are acrylic on canvas panel or framed canvas."
